Brooks began his career as an Equity Analyst/Trader for the First National Bank of Omaha. After gaining broad experience in both stock analysis and portfolio management, Brooks was recruited to Norwest Bank (now Wells Fargo Private Bank). Brooks built and led a team of Investment Professionals in Omaha before he relocated to Denver in 1999. In Denver, Brooks was Senior Regional Investment Manager for the Rocky Mountain Region. Wanting to get back in front of clients, Brooks joined Northern Trust in Denver. Again, he was asked to build and lead the investment management team, but also maintained a very large book of complex multi-generational clients. After 7 years with Northern Trust, Brooks was recruited to US Bank Private Wealth Management, again to build and lead the team of investment professionals for the Denver office. In the spring of 2023, Brooks decided to make a change in his career by starting his own RIA (Registered Investment Advisor) business. Along this brief path, it made sense to merge into Gilpin Wealth Management to be able to bring more advanced resources to his clients.
Brooks attended Kansas State University, earning a B.S. in Finance. After moving to Omaha, he obtained a Master’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Simultaneously, Brooks earned the distinguished Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, along with the Certified Investment Management Consultant (CIMC) designation. On the personal front, Brooks enjoys skiing, hiking, and just being outdoors. Brooks and his wife Karen have two grown children. They live part-time in Frisco, Colorado, and split time in Summerlin, Nevada along with their two cats. Hard to beat Desert and Mountain climates.
